The Presidential Community Engagement Office (South-West) will on Friday, 3rd October 2025, flag off the second edition of its flagship education initiative, BAT-STEM 2.0.
BAT-STEM which stands for Bola Ahmed Tinubu Scholarship, Training, Education and Mentorship is a programme created to inspire growth through education and mentorship, while supporting teachers and uplifting communities.
The maiden edition in Oyo and Osun States impacted over 9,000 pupils, teachers, and community members. Pupils in underserved schools received school bags, exercise books, pens, pencils, mathematics sets, school sandals, and socks, easing the burden on parents and ensuring children are better equipped to learn. Teachers were supported with instructional materials including whiteboards, markers, dusters, and resource aids to improve classroom delivery. In addition, scholarships were awarded to students, while mentorship sessions inspired pupils to aim higher in their academic journey.
Beyond the classroom, BAT-STEM also touched families. Food items were distributed to teachers, parents, and community members, offering relief and strengthening the bond between the schools and their host communities.
According to Moremi Ojudu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South-West), education remains a cornerstone of the Renewed Hope Agenda. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to investing in the future of young Nigerians. BAT-STEM is one of the ways we are translating this vision into real impact across our communities. We are distributing school kits, awarding scholarships, planting seeds of confidence and possibility in the minds of children, while also giving teachers the tools they need to thrive. When we invest in education, we invest in stronger families, better communities, and a more prosperous nation.”
Highlights of BAT-STEM 2.0 include:
- Distribution of school kits to pupils in underserved communities.
- Provision of instructional materials to aid teachers.
- Scholarship awards.
- Mentorship and training sessions.
