The Presidency, through the Presidential Community Engagement Office (South-West), in collaboration with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), is set to hold a Tax Reform Sensitisation Drive across major locations in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday, 15th July 2025.

The sensitisation drive will take the breakdown of the new Tax Reform directly to the people, especially traders, transporters, artisans, and informal sector workers, with the aim of simplifying the reforms and highlighting how they will directly benefit the everyday Nigerian.

Themed “Irọrun fún Mẹkúnù” (Relief for the Common Man), the drive will involve a public roadshow from Ojoo to Mokola, featuring a public address narative with the distribution of informational materials in English, Yoruba, and Pidgin
The new tax reform law exempts low-income earners from income tax, reduces burdens on small businesses, streamlines payment systems, and empowers state and local governments with greater revenue autonomy, all with the goal of simplifying the tax code, restoring public trust in the tax system and providing more disposable income to a vast majority of Nigerians.

Speaking ahead of the drive, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South-West), Moremi Ojudu, noted that the passage of the bill reflects another landmark towards achieving the promises of the Renewed Hope Agenda. “We are taking this message straight to the streets, because the people deserve to understand how this reform helps them. It’s about education, access, and rebuilding the connection between government and citizens” she said.
Members of the public are encouraged to join the conversation and engage with the awareness teams on the day of the drive.
