The Presidential Community Engagement Office (South-West), in partnership with Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and proudly sponsored by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), is set to officially launch the Light-Up Ibeju-Lekki programme on June 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.

The initiative, which falls under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, is designed to provide clean, reliable, and affordable solar power systems to households and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Ibeju-Lekki. The goal is to ease the burden of unstable electricity supply, lower energy costs, and promote grassroots economic development through renewable energy solutions.

With the theme: “Empowering Communities Through Renewable Energy and Grassroots Development,” this programme represents a direct response to the energy needs of local communities, creating new opportunities for business growth, job creation, and improved quality of life for residents.

Speaking ahead of the launch, officials from the Presidential Community Engagement Office (South-West) reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to practical, people-centered interventions. “The Light-Up Ibeju-Lekki project reflects Mr. President’s vision for a more inclusive and empowered Nigeria where essential services reach even the most remote communities. This is Renewed Hope in action,” the statement read.

NASENI’s support of the project underscores its ongoing commitment to leveraging indigenous technology to support national development priorities. Through this collaboration, NASENI continues to advance its mandate of providing innovative solutions that are both sustainable and impactful for grassroots communities.

As preparations are finalized for the June 3rd commissioning, the residents of Ibeju-Lekki eagerly anticipate the positive transformation this programme will bring to their homes and businesses.

The Light-Up Ibeju-Lekki programme serves as a model for effective community engagement, demonstrating the power of collaboration between federal agencies, local governments, and strategic partners in delivering tangible benefits to Nigerians at the grassroots level.
